The meaning of Shabaan is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar, preceding the Holy Month of Ramadan. It is said that the word ‘Shabaan’ is derived from ‘Shaba’ which means ‘branches out or emerges’ - as it bridges between the two sacred and blessed months of Rajab and Ramadan. Which is why, ‘Shabaan’ is full of virtues. It is held in high esteem and has a special significance and value to all Muslims.

The importance of Shabaan

Usaamah ibn Zayd asked the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) (may Allaah be pleased with them both): “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, I do not see you fasting in any other month like you fast in Shabaan.’ He replied: "That is a month to which people do not pay attention, between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a month in which deeds are lifted up to the Lord of the Worlds. I like for my deeds to be lifted up when I am fasting.” [Reported by Nasaa’i and authenticated by Al-Albani]

The essence of Shabaan is also best described by the famous religious scholar, Imam Abu Bakr al-Warraq, who said: "In Rajab you sow the seeds. In Shabaan you irrigate them. And in Ramadan you reap the harvest."  Every practicing Muslim must value the month of Shabaan as is proven from the hadiths of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is a special month and committing good deeds in this month is of immense value. One can receive countless blessings from the Almighty if one was to be true to the spirit of Shabaan.

Perfumery in Shabaan

When it comes to using and wearing perfumes during Shabaan, one must appreciate that this month already has a scent of divinity which is spread everywhere. It has been said that Ibn Mas'ood once expressed that: "When you get up in the morning and you are fasting, then apply perfume." This was echoed by Qutadah who said: "It is mustahabb (recommended) for the man who is fasting to apply perfume so that there will be no sign that he is fasting."

Ajmal Perfumes and Shabaan

Shabaan is thus an important month in the preparation towards Ramadan. Wearing perfumes is of interest in this month, particularly on the holy 15th night of Shabaan known as Shab-e-Barat. As such, Ajmal Perfumes plays an important and integral part in the preparation. Above all, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has emphasized his love of good perfume in hadiths. "Allah is Pleasant and loves pleasant things, Clean and loves cleanliness, Generous and loves generosity…” (Tirmizhi: 2799)

Ajmal has a whole line of traditional perfumes - especially our well-known Dahn Al Oudhs (like ArzanMoattaqRaysan,ShamsMaymunNayyirNuwayra and Atheer to name a few) and Home Fragrances (Oudhs such as Sawfat al Sawfa,Oudh Moathers like Oudh Mubakhar Fakher, Dakhoons such as Dakhoon Huffof and a range of Room Fresheners)  - which are perfect both for yourself and as well as for gifting to your loved ones, friends and associates during Shabaan.
